As the leaves started to turn in fall, I camped along the road to Red Mountain Pass at 9800'. Amidst the mining ruins and old mining roads, I unexpectedly found an easy path that wound between the mountains and marshlands, then through the aspen/conifer forest. As I returned to my campsite very late in the day, this young aspen sapling glowed in a shaft of sunlight.
